Shut up.
Today, Muslims are killing Infidels with suicide bombs, truck bombs, car bombs, donkey bombs, IEDs, RPGs, and assorted rockets, when they're not trying to use even bigger trucks and explosives on airplanes.
Until Muslims start protesting these killings, they should shut up and take a good look in the mirror, instead of getting upset because the Pope quoted a medieval text referring to their earlier terrorist acts.
"We are destined to be a barrier against the return of ignorance and barbarism" wrote Thomas Jefferson, the first American president to stand up to Islamic terrorists, the Barbary "Pirates". (The French, of course, kept paying ‘tribute’ to them. Funny how some things never change…)

Islamo-fascism continued well beyond that century. In 711 AD, Ceuta fell to the Moors and immediately a Moorish fleet sailed across the strait and seized a beachhead on Andalusia in Spain, their first territory on the European mainland.
The Spanish Gothic king of the time, Roderic, rushed an army south and engaged the Moors in a three day battle at Xeres. The Moors won, and the Gothic Spaniards were forced to retreat, giving the Moors time to land a seemingly inexhaustible supply of soldiers from the population wells of North Africa.
Soon the Moors had assembled a massive army and within a few months had conquered most of Gothic Spain.
Only isolated pockets of Gothic resistance held out. In the north an enclave only secured its existence by being forced to enter a treaty with the Moors in terms of which the Goths had to hand over 100 White Gothic virgins a year to the Moorish leaders for use in their harems - a painful tribute which continued until 791 AD, when the Goths once enough became strong enough to break the terms of the treaty.
Many cultures have treated women poorly, especially in ancient times. The Hebrew and Christian faiths elevated the status of women in these contexts. Hebrews saw women as people rather than property and a child's race or Jewishness was determined by the mother not the father.
At the time of Christ, Jews had been taken into bondage in Babylon and brought back Persian attitudes toward women. Moses' bill of divorcement, giving a woman a clean bill of slate to start her life over, had been reduced to the Persian custom of the husband being able to divorce by saying, "I divorce you!" three times.
To this Jesus responded, Matt 5:31 "Furthermore it has been said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.' 32 But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery"
In that day the practice of men was to cast off wives for younger women, not entirely unlike today. But then a woman's choices, since she was not prime marrying age, were begging or prostitution. Jesus spoke to the responsibility of the marriage covenant, economic and otherwise. For the last 700 years the prophets had railed against the influence of other Middleastern cultures especially concerning their attitudes about women and those cast-away and their offspring.
Mal 2:16
16 "For the LORD God of Israel says
That He hates divorce,
For it covers one's garment with violence,"
Says the LORD of hosts.
"Therefore take heed to your spirit,
That you do not deal treacherously."
"Garments" is a metaphor for one's soul, one's psyche. The reason God hates divorce is it rips peoples' souls apart. Yet, often the church in year's past continued that ripping, condemning the divorced.
The impact of this Old Testament truth is depicted in a meta-study of research on contributing factors to various maladies for juveniles, from poor school performance, dropping out, criminal justice involvement, to behavioral health issues, etc. The greatest correlative is not their race, gender, or socio-economic status. It was whether they had both parents in the home.
The Judaic-Christian orthodox perspective recognized the equality of women in Genesis where God made Eve a "helpmeet" to Adam, one by his side, not behind, to partner with him in dominion of the Earth. The destruction of this partnership, usually through oppressive domination and dimunition of the woman's status, in any society, including the USA, has caused dramatic social problems leading to the demise of that culture.
The land of the Assyrians and Persians, the Mesopotamian basin of the Tigris and Euphrates, was known as the cradle of civilization, once great cultures. The erratic and hostile behaviors of these peoples, that cause them to be the seed-bed of terrorism, has much to do with their attitudes about women.
